FAQ on: Product and Technical Questions

These  Frequently Asked Questions cover many issues related to specific products and technical issues. We welcome your suggestions for questions and answers that we may add to the list.

Q:Can you produce a custom-made gaskets for me?
A:
Yes. Most of our gaskets are custom, hand-cut gaskets to a drawing or by sample. We also carry a wide range of industry standard gaskets.

Q:Can I get a hose assembly made to length or are they pre-made?
A:
We carry hose in bulk from the manufacturer, so the only limit is what the manufacturer sends. We do carry some pre-made hoses, but most are custom made to the customers' specifications.

Q:Can I get a gasket or hose for a specific make and model, or do I need to bring in a sample?
A:
Due to the vast number of different manufacturers of equipment, we typically must go by sample or drawing. However, we do carry industry standard gaskets and special application gaskets such as boiler hand hold gaskets, manway gaskets and flange gaskets, to name a few.

Q:Do you offer custom tubing assemblies with bends and flares?
A:
Yes, we do offer custom tubing assemblies, and have the capability to bend and flare tubing in many different configurations.

Q:The end fittings on my hose are obsolete and the hose is leaking, what do I do?
A:
In many cases, we can cut and weld/braze customer fittings and use them as "adapters" to get you going again.

Q:I need to make sure the hose doesn't leak - do you offer testing?
A:
We offer hydro-static testing for a charge. We test hose assemblies to 1-1/2 times the weakest part of the hose assembly. We also tag the hose and supply a certificate.

Q:Can Cam & Groove fittings (Camlocks) be used for air service?
A:
No. Under no circumstance should a camlock fitting be used in compressed air or steam service.

Q:I have critical measurements - how close can you get?
A:
With our water jet cutting capabilities, we offer a +/- .005"; hose lengths depend on overall length, but typically we can get within a 1/4", even closer on some.

Q:What is the proper way to measure hose and tubing?
A:
Hose is measured by the inside diameter, while tubing is measured by the outside. To get an accurate measurement, it is best to start at the 1 and measure straight across.

Q:I have equipment from overseas, do you carry metric fittings?
A:
We carry a wide range of metric and standard fittings/adapters.

Q:How can I make sure I get the right material for my application?
A:
Just call in to our professional sales staff, and they will be more than happy to help. If the answer is not readily available, we can call the manufacturer for further assistance.
